Uighurs may be able to file genocide case against China in UK court

London/UNI: The British Parliamentarians, sympathetic to Uighurs are pushing for Muslim minorities in China being allowed to file petitions in the UK High Court against the alleged genocide in Xinjiang.

These lawmakers are also seeking a ruling by the UK High Court, admitting that a 'genocide' is taking place in China.

Conservative Party lawmaker Iain Duncan Smith, who is heading the campaign, advocates that UK should take tougher action against China for the alleged human rights abuses perpetrated by the Communist regime in the Xinjiang autonomous region.

The Guardian quoted Smith as saying that China is hardly dealt with firmly because of its influence.

''The government has still not got it on human rights in China. If an African country was doing what China is doing, Ministers would be all over it, but because of China's size and influence at the UN, it runs away. It is time we stood up against the abuses underway within China.''

China has been widely accused of putting Uighurs into camps and there have been reports of the forced sterilisation of Uighur women.
