Unknown men assassinate Taliban leader in Afghanistan

Unknown armed men assassinated the Taliban Head of Economy for the northern Afghan province of Faryab Abdul Rahman Munawar, media reports said on Sunday.

According to local sources, unknown armed men assassinated the Taliban official, Abdul Rahman Munawar, on Saturday, October 8, when he was on his way to his house, reports Khaama Press.

The Taliban Head of Information and Culture for Faryab province, Shamsullah Mohammad, confirmed the veracity of the assassination and said that the incident took place in a village in the Qaisar district of Faryab.

“Abdul Rahman Munawar, the head of economic affairs of the Taliban in this province, was killed by unknown armed men while he was on his way home,” Mohammadi told the media as quoted by Khaama Press.

The attackers escaped the scene.
