Washington/IBNS: The United States declared a fresh military assistance package of $300 million to Ukraine, which includes a significant amount of ammunition to prepare for an upcoming assault against Russian troops who are invading the country,on Wednesday.

The Defense Department stated that the aid package includes supplementary ammunition for the HIMARS (rocket launchers) that the US provided, additional howitzers, artillery, and mortar rounds, as well as anti-armor capabilities for Ukraine to resist and counteract Russia's unwarranted act of aggression, reported AFP.

Karine Jean-Pierre, the White House Press Secretary stated that the US government has been working tirelessly over the past few months to fulfill Ukraine's request in anticipation of their upcoming counter-offensive.

The United States has already provided more than $35.7 billion in security assistance to Ukraine since Russia invaded the country in late February 2022.
