US government shut down for the second time this year
Washington, Feb 9 (IBNS): The US government has shut down after the Congress failed to decide on a key budget on time.
In January, earlier this year, the US faced a three-day shutdown after the senate failed to pass a bill.
On Thursday, lawmakers had hoped to pass the new bill before it expired, but Republican Senator Rand Paul demanded a debate, ending all hopes.
Paul later tweeted, "Yes, we should have debate. Yes, we should have a vote. Let's have a vote tonight on amendments."
"I'm asking for one amendment. It takes fifteen minutes," the senator said.

Meanwhile, following the shutdown, services in the US are expected to take a hit on Friday.
