US to suspend flights by Chinese airlines from June 16

Washington/IBNS: Amid the rising tension between two countries, the United States on Tuesday ordered to suspend all flights by Chinese airlines into and out of the country.

The US Transportation Department informed that it decided to suspend passenger flights of four Chinese airlines to and from the United States starting June 16.

"US carriers have asked to resume passenger service, beginning June 1st. The Chinese government's failure to approve their requests is a violation of our Air Transport Agreement," the statement available with media read.

This comes after Beijing failed to allow American airlines to resume service to China, which was suspended earlier this year following the coronavirus pandemic
