Uyghur American Association to protest outside Chinese Embassy in Washington to remember Ghulja Massacre victims

The Uyghur American Association has announced to organise a protest outside the Chinese Embassy in Washington DC to remember the victims of the Ghulja Massacre.

The gathering will be held between 11 am to 12 noon on February 5.

The Association wrote on X: "On February 5, 1997, hundreds of Uyghurs in Ghulja peacefully protested for their rights—only to be met with brutal repression. Many were killed, imprisoned, or forcibly disappeared. We will never forget."

"Stand with us as we honor the victims and demand justice for the Uyghur people. Your voice matters!" the X post said.

As per human Rights House Foundation, on February 5, 1997,  hundreds of Uyghurs were killed or imprisoned after participating in a peaceful demonstration in the city of Ghulja in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR).

No one was held accountable for the brutal crackdown on the non-violent protesters.
