Ottawa, Nov 19 (IBNS): Global Affairs Canada on Sunday stated that one Canadian has died after one week of Guyana plane crash, media reports said.

Following the crash, the airline had reported that two elderly people were taken to a hospital. It had said no one was injured seriously.

Citing privacy, Global Affairs did not provide details of the deceased.

On Nov 9, Global Affairs had said 82 passengers were on board a Toronto-bound Fly Jamaica aircraft which skidded off the runway.

Airline spokesperson Kayla Reece has been quoted by CTV News, "Whilst Mrs Kalloo is not recorded as having been treated in hospital for any injuries as a result of the accident, we are investigating the position further and lending all possible assistance and support to Mrs. Kalloo's relatives as they come to terms with their loss."

On Sunday itself, the federal government expressed condolences to the deceased's family.
