Indian benchmark indices end higher on Thursday

Mumbai, Jul 6 (IBNS): Indian equity benchmarks ended positive for the second consecutive session on Thursday with BSE Sensex touching record high though NSE Nifty failed to cling to its intraday 9700 level, according to media reports.

BSE Sensex was up 123.78 points at 31,369.34 and NSE Nifty was up 36.95 points at 9,674.55.

Key gainers included SBI, Bharti Infratel, ITC, Coal India, Bharti Airtel and Bhel while Bajaj Auto, Eicher Motors, M&M, Sun Pharma, Asix Bank, Idea Cellular, Hindalco and ONGC declined.
