Climate activist and global icon Greta Thunberg came out in support of the "postpone JEE NEET" movement and said it is 'unfair' that students in India need to sit for the crucial examinations at a time when the country is witnessing COVID-19 pandemic.

He also pointed to the issue of flood disrupting normal life in the country at present.

"It’s deeply unfair that students of India are asked to sit national exams during the Covid-19 pandemic and while millions have also been impacted by the extreme floods. I stand with their call to #PostponeJEE_NEETinCOVID," Greta tweeted.

The demand to cancel the IIT and medical entrance exams has been voiced by a large section of students in the country.

Maharashtra Minister of Tourism and Environment Aaditya Thackeray on Monday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to assess the risk and postpone the JEE and NEET until the situation becomes conducive to hold the exams.
