17 labourers killed in Arunachal Pradesh landslide

Guwahati, Apr 22 (IBNS) At least 17 labourers were feared killed in a massive landslide triggered by incessant rains which hit their camp in Arunachal Pradesh's Tawang on Friday morning.

The incident took place at Famala area, four km away from Tawang at around 3 AM.

The labourers hailed from Assam, who were engaged in the construction of a hotel in the area.

A local administration official said  following incessant rains in the past few days in Arunachal Pradesh incidents of landslide happened in many places. 

"The labour camp was  hit by a massive landslide and the labourers were buried by the mud. Nine bodies have recovered, while eight persons are still missing, " the official said.

The labourers  hailed from Barpeta, Dhekiajuli, Balipara area of Assam.
