Former Air India pilot found dead in Delhi five-star hotel room
A former Air India pilot was found dead inside a room at a five-star hotel in Delhi's upscale Vasant Kunj area, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Sunny Asaldekar, a flight captain who had checked into The Grand hotel on September 10.
Police said Asaldekar was found unconscious and unresponsive inside his hotel room on Thursday.
He was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him “brought dead.”
Brother alerted hotel manager
According to police, Asaldekar's brother contacted the hotel manager the following day after the pilot stopped responding to his phone calls.
The hotel manager then went to the room and found the door locked from the inside.
The manager opened the room using a master key and found Asaldekar unresponsive inside. He was subsequently taken to hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Post-mortem conducted
Asaldekar's body was sent to Safdarjung Hospital, where a post-mortem examination was conducted.
Police said the final cause of death will be established after the receipt of the final medical opinion.
An inquest has been initiated under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which deals with proceedings relating to deaths requiring police inquiry.
The circumstances surrounding the pilot's death are being investigated.
