400 petrol pumps to remain shut in Delhi tomorrow, CM Kejriwal attacks BJP

New Delhi, Oct 21 (IBNS):  Nearly 400 petrol pumps in national capital that also sell Compressed Natural Gas will remain shut for 23 hours starting 6 am on Monday to protest against Delhi government's denial to slash Value Added Tax on diesel and petrol, triggering CM Arvind Kejriwal to call it 'politically motivated'.

Attacking the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, Kejriwal said people will give it a ' befitting reply' in the upcoming polls.

"Petrol pump owners hv told us privately that this is a BJP sponsored strike, actively supported by oil cos. In fact, BJP has thrust it upon petrol pump owners. People will give BJP a befitting reply in elections for continuously inconveniencing people thro their dirty politics," Kejriwal tweeted.

The Lok Sabha polls will be held next year.

"The price reduction in UP and Haryana has led to a decline in sale of petrol by 20% and diesel by 30% in Delhi till October 15. It is expected to further decline in the coming days," Nischal Singhania, president of the Delhi Petrol Dealers Association, told NDTV on the shutdown.

He told the news channel that talks between the petrol pump owners and the Delhi Government over the issue of VAT have been inconclusive so far.
