Who is Air Marshal (retd) Jeetendra Mishra? Operation Sindoor hero appointed as Ayodhya Ram Temple CEO?

The Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has appointed Air Marshal (retd) Jeetendra Mishra as the first full-time Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ram temple.

Mishra was selected from a shortlist of three candidates drawn from 5,585 applications by a high-powered selection committee.

Who is Air Marshal (retd) Jeetendra Mishra?

Air Marshal Mishra is a decorated former Indian Air Force officer with more than 38 years of service and over 3,000 hours of flying experience.

He was commissioned into the Indian Air Force as a fighter pilot on December 6, 1986. During his distinguished career, he held several key command and staff positions, including senior operational appointments.

Mishra served as the chief of the IAF's Western Air Command during Operation Sindoor. He was also awarded the Sarvottam Yudh Seva Medal for his role in the operation.

A Fighter Combat Leader and experimental Test Pilot, Mishra has held several important appointments, including Commanding Officer of a fighter squadron, Chief Test Pilot at the Aircraft & Systems Testing Establishment (ASTE), and Air Officer Commanding of two frontline air bases.

His other assignments included Director of the Operational Planning and Assessment Group, Principal Director (ASR), Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Projects) at Air Headquarters (Vayu Bhavan), Commandant of ASTE and Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Doctrine, Organisation and Training).

Before taking up his current appointment, Mishra served as Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Operations).

Education and honours

Mishra is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Pune; the Air Force Test Pilots School, Bengaluru; the Air Command and Staff College in the United States; and the Royal College of Defence Studies in the United Kingdom.

He is a recipient of the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal, in addition to the Sarvottam Yudh Seva Medal.
