AAP agitation outside Arun Jaitley's residence

| | Dec 23, 2015, at 05:31 pm
New Delhi, Dec 23 (IBNS) members and youth wing of Delhi's ruling Aam Aadmi Party staged a demonstration in front of Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley's official residence in New Delhi on Wednesday morning seeking his resignation, reports said.

The protests come a day after the BJP protested against the AAP government's move to institute a commission of inquiry into allegations of corruption in the Delhi and District Cricket Association when  Jaitley was at its helm of affairs.

The police used water cannons to disperse the mob after the  AAP members scaled the police barricades set up outside the Finance Minister's residence on Krishna Menon Marg where prohibitory orders have been clamped.

AAP MLA Jagdeep Singh, who was leading the protests said, "This is a peaceful protest. Arun Jaitley should resign. They are conducting CBI raids on us for small things." Former Delhi law minister Somnath Bharati also participated in the protest.

On Tuesday, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had lashed it out at the  Prime Minister and demanded  his resignation over what he called a "failed raid" on his office by the CBI. He alleged that the Modi government had set the CBI after him to shield Jaitley in the DDCA probe.
