After 24-hour relief, Uttarakhand back to President's Rule
New Delhi, Apr 22 (IBNS) The Supreme Court of India on Friday said that the state of Uttarakhand will remain under President's Rule till its next hearing on April 27.
This comes after the apex court has stayed the Uttarkhand High Court's order, which, on Thursday, revoked President's rule in Uttarakhand and asked Harish Rawat led government to take a floor test on Apr 29.
It means that Congress's Harish Rawat cannot function as Chief Minister of the hill state till next Wednesday at least.
"Yesterday I was reinstated by high court, before that I was dismissed chief minister, now I am a former chief minister. It is an interim order," Rawat was quoted as saying by NDTV.
Earlier on Friday, the Centre had moved the Supreme Court (SC) challenging the Uttarakhand High Court's verdict.
According to Advocate General of India, Mukul Rohatgi, the SC has issued a short order, saying that the the high court order has been stayed until Apr 27, on which day there will be further hearing.
SC has asked the Uttarakhand High Court to provide copy of the judgement to all parties by Apr 26.
The stay by the SC brings Uttarakhand under President's Rule once again.
