Anti-CAA stir: CM Arvind Kejriwal appeals for peace
New Delhi/UNI: Amid fresh violence in North-East Delhi's Seelampur against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday appealed to the people to maintain peace.
Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Kejriwal said, ''I appeal to all Delhiites to maintain peace. Violence of any kind cannot be tolerated in a civilised society. Nothing will be gained by violence. You have to put up your points peacefully.''
More than 1,000 people gathered outside the DCP office in Seelampur protesting against the CAA, with the police resorting to lathi-charge and tear gas.
The protestors were shouting slogans -- 'Hindu-Muslim Zindabad' and 'Jamia tum sangharsh karo, hum tumhare saath hain'.
The agitators were seen pelting stones at police personnel. Vandalisation of property has also been reported.
