Assam govt deports seven Rohingya Muslims
Guwahati, Oct 3 (IBNS): The Assam government on Wednesday deported seven Rohingya Muslims who were staying at Silchar detention camp in Barak Valley’s Cachar district for past six years.
According to the reports, eight Rohingya Muslims were arrested by the Assam police on July 29 in 2012 in Karimganj district and they were lodged at Silchar central jail, but recently Assam government had deported one Rohingya to Myanmar.
On Wednesday morning, Assam government dispatched seven Rohingya Muslims from detention camp to Manipur’s capital city Imphal and they were deported to Myanmar via Moreh along Indo-Myanmar border.
The deported persons have been identified as Rahim Uddin, Mohbul Khan, Md Jamal, Jamal Hussain, Md Salam, Md Yonus and Sabir Ahmed and they are hailing from Keito (Badarpara) village under Cheptak police station of Faida district in Myanmar.
A top official of Assam police said the Rohingya Muslims were arrested for violating the Foreigners Act and they were entered into India without valid documents.
Recently, Manipur police had arrested a couple from Uttar Pradesh who are allegedly the masterminds in the trafficking of Rohingyas from Myanmar into North Eastern region.
The arrested couple revealed, during police interrogation that, they helped six Rohingyas to enter into Manipur via Moreh and Tripura-Hailakandi (Assam) side.
On Apr 8 this year, Manipur police had arrested two Rohingyas identified as identified as Md Saifullah (34 years) and Md Salam (25 years) from Moreh town area.
