BHU campus remains tensed after police use force to remove protesters

Varanasi, Sept 24 (IBNS): The Benaras Hindu University (BHU) campus remained tensed on Sunday after several students, including girls, were injured on Saturday night when the police allegedly used force to remove protesters from outside V-C’s residence, media reports said.

The students were protesting against an alleged molestation of a university girl and the failure of the administration in punishing the attackers.

The protest has been continuing for three days.

The clash has compelled the authorities to pre-pone the break at the university from Sept 25 on the account of Dusshera.

Meanwhile, another controversy broke with a video of the clash emerging on Sunday where male cops were seen repeatedly hitting a woman student outside the women's hostel.

No women constables could be seen in the video.

The students have also claimed that the police lathicharged them including girls without provocation.
