BJP should be made an instrument of mass participation, PM feels

New Delhi, Sept 25 (IBNS): Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Monday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his speech at the party's national executive, focused on making the party an instrument of mass participation.

He said the PM aimed at taking BJP party beyond elections.

"Main point of PM's speech was that we should take BJP beyond elections and make it instrument of mass participation," Jaitley told media.

Speaking on the meeting, Jaitley said: "13 CMs, 6 Deputy CMs, 232 state min, 1500 MLA, 334 MPs were present in BJP National Executive Meeting."

Jaitley said: "BJP is the most important political party in the country."

BJP President Amit Shah on Monday came down heavily on the Congress for the "dynastic rule" it has been following while claiming that his party believes only in "performance," media reports said.

His remarks came a fortnight after Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi's recent statement at Barkley, which Shah said was in defence of dynastic politics.

In his inaugural address at the BJP national executive, Shah said the current President, Vie-President and the Prime Minister had reached their position due to their work, despite their humble background.

"The BJP believes in the politics of performance, the Congress  in dynasty and the politics of appeasement," he said.

The meeting was attended  by all senior party leaders, Cabinet members and party workers.

Citing the examples of development under the BJP rule, Shah said the  economy is now  stronger under this Government than it was under the UPA.

He also praised the Government for the way it handled the Ultra left insurgency.

Shah also attacked the Trinamool Congress Government in West Bengal and the Left Government in Kerala for alleged political violence against BJP workers.
