Dehradun, Apr 27(IBNS) : The Uttarakhand High Court on Thursday issued notices to the Central Election Commission and the State Election Commission on a petition on EVM tampering, reports said.

The High Court, which also issued notice against local BJP MLA Munna Singh Chauhan, asked the authorities to take the EVMs used in the last Assembly elections to judicial custody.

The High Court's order came following a petition by the Congress that alleged that the voting machines used for polling in February last, had been tampered with.

The High Court said the EVMs must not be used in any other election until further orders.

Chauhan had defeated the Congress candidate, Navprabhat, over 6,000 votes in the elections held in February, last.
