Kolkata/IBNS: Five Bangladeshi nationals were on Monday arrested from West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district for illegally staying in India, media reports said.

The five Bangladeshis were living at a rented flat in Sonarpur, an outskirt of Kolkata.

They were from the Kustia and Barisal districts of the neighbouring country, which has a border with West Bengal.

They were helped by Indian men to enter India. Police are probing to find out who helped them to enter the country.

"These men were staying in a rented flat in Sonarpur for more than a year. Three of them had expired visa papers while two had no official document at all," police said as quoted by Hindustan Times.

The Bangladeshis, who never interacted with neighbours, had also secured jobs at a local cloth mill procuring fake Indian documents.
