Health condition of ailing former West Bengal CM Buddhadeb Bhattacharya now stable
Kolkata: The health condition of ailing former West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya, who was hospitalised on Friday night, is now stable, media reports said.
Bhattacharya was rushed to the Intensive Coronary Care Unit (ICCU) of a private hospital in south Kolkata with an acute respiratory problem and low blood pressure.
A five-doctor medical team is treating the former Chief Minister, who is with his wife and daughter in the hospital.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who had visited the hospital immediately after Bhattacharya was admitted, told media last night, "His condition was worrying when he was admitted to the hospital. But now he is better."
CPI-M leader Mohammed Salim said, "He is now in a better condition. He doesn't like unwanted attention so he had earlier opted for a medical treatment at home. The party will bear all the costs of his treatment at the hospital. We want him to stay in the hospital for treatment now."

Bhattacharya, a veteran CPI-M leader, is away from public eyes due to illness for several years now. Despite reaching his party's Brigade Rally venue on February 3 this year, the former Chief Minister could not step out of his car.
Few days ago, newly-appointed West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar with his spouse had visited Bhattacharya's residence in south Kolkata.
Bhattacharya remained the Chief Minister from 2001 to 2011 until his party was voted out of power by the Trinamool Congress.
