I was stopped from entering temple by RSS workers: Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi, Dec 14 (IBNS): Congress vice -president Rahul Gandhi on Monday claimed that he was prevented from entering a temple in Barpeta area of Assam by RSS workers.

"The RSS people had stopped me entering the temple," Gandhi told reporters.

"This is the way the BJP operates...They made the woman to stand in front of me and told me that I cannot enter into the temple," he said.

Gandhi questioned: "Who are they to stop me?"

The head of the Barpeta Satra temple, however, rejected Gandhi's claims.

Basistha Sarma, the burha-satriya or head of the monastery told The Indian Express: "I clearly deny there was any opposition or demonstration to prevent Rahul Gandhi as alleged. On the contrary, I was at the satra gate for nearly four hours, waiting to receive. Former chief minister Bhumidhar Barman and several other senior Congress leaders were also chatting with me waiting for Rahul Gandhi on Saturday.”
