New Delhi/IBNS: Days after taking charge, Army chief Manoj Mukund Naravane on Saturday said the Army will take "appropriate action" on Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) if the Indian Parliament wants, media reports said.

"If Parliament wants, the area belongs to us. When we get orders to that effect, we will take appropriate action," General Naravane said.

In his first address as the Army chief, General Naravane said preparing the Armed forces for future wars will be the prime objective.

"We will have to train for the future and that is where the emphasis of our training will be. The focus of the training will be on preparing Army for future wars which will be network-centric and complex," the Army chief said ad quoted by Times Now.

Welcoming the creation of the post of Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), he said, "We on our part will make sure that this is a success."

Naravane succeeded General Bipin Rawat who went on to become the first CDS of the country on Dec 30, 2019.
