Srinagar, Feb 15 (IBNS) A complete shutdown is being observed across Kashmir valley today to protest against the killing of two civilians, including a woman, in alleged firing by security forces in south Kashmir's Pulwama district on Sunday.

A day's strike call was issued by Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, JKLF Chief Yasin Malik, and Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani besides heads of other separatist groups.

All shops and business establishments remained closed in Srinagar and other district headquarters of the valley while public transport remained off the roads.

Curfew-like restrictions have been imposed in several areas of Srinagar besides several other parts of the valley to stem protests against the civilian killings.

“Restrictions have been imposed in the areas of Khanyar, Rainawari, Nowhatta, M.R.Gunj, Safakadal and Maisuma,” a senior police official said here.

Heavy police and paramilitary forces in full riot gear have been deployed in Srinagar, Pulwama, and other districts of valley.

Train services between Baramulla town in the Valley and Jammu’s Bannihal town have been suspended for the day.

Danish Farooq, 19 and Shaista Hamid, 22 were killed after forces fired their guns on civilians during a protest against the killing of a militant in Kakapora Pulwama of Sunday.
