LeT commander, 2 associates killed in Kashmir

Srinagar, Jan 30 (IBNS) In a fierce gunbattle on Saturday with security forces three militants including top Lashkar Militant were killed in north Kashmir’s Dardpora, Lolab area of Kupwara.

Acting on tip of information, 28 RR Battalion of the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a cordon and search operation in Dardpora, Kupwara.

As the forces were zeroing in, the militants opened fire upon them, triggering off an encounter.

Senior police official said, during day long encounter three militants including top LeT commander Abu Usama were killed.

“Abu Usama” had infiltrated into this part of Kashmir some six months back and were hiding inside the dense bushes of Lolab of north Kashmir”, official said.

Dozens of locals participated in the last rites of the slain militant. The area also observed a shutdown.

Meanwhile, Kashmir Police Spokesman said in Srinagar that war like ammunition was recovered from the encounter site.
