Lok Sabha 2019: Amit Shah's tenure as BJP chief extended?

| @indiablooms | Sep 08, 2018, at 04:34 pm

New Delhi, Sept 8 (IBNS): The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha polls under the leadership of Amit Shah next year.

It has deferred its organizational elections by keeping the Lok Sabha polls in mind, reports said.

The BJP has decided to postpone its organizational elections in order to fight the 2019 Lok Sabha elections under Amit Shah’s leadership, sources told News18 on Saturday.

Shah's tenure as the President was scheduled to end in January 2019.

The decision was reportedly taken during the party's national executive.

Amit Shah replaced Rajnath Singh as the president of the party in August 2014.

Singh is currently serving as the Union Home Minister.

Shah completed Singh's tenure of three years and then served his own term from January 2016.
