Morena, Sept 7 (IBNS): A forest officer was crushed to death when he attempted to stop a tractor- troley laden with illegally-mined sand in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena district on Friday morning, media reports said quoting the police.

Deputy ranger Subedar Singh Kushwaha was on duty at the forest department post at Devri village in Morena, 480 km north of Bhopal, when the incident took place.

Kushwaha, who was accompanied by four others, tried to stop the tractor, but the driver sped away and ran over him. Kushwaha was rushed to the nearest hospital where he was declared brought dead.

The tractor-trolley driver escaped with the vehicle after the incident and a hunt is on to nab him, police said.  A case has been filed against the unknown driver.

In March 2012, Indian Police Service officer Narendra Kumar was crushed to death by a tractor-trolley carrying illegally mined stone in Banmore in Morena district when he tried to stop it.
