Kolkata/IBNS: Holding her rally against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, and National Register of Citizens (NRC) here for the second day, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi who on Sunday referred to a particular community by referring to their dress.

"How can one identify a person through his dress? I wear a white slippers. What bad is it? Do I have to wear saffron slippers or what?" Mamata said.

Modi on Sunday said, "The protesters can be identified by looking at their dresses only."

Calling the CAA as "unconstitutional", Mamata said before beginning her rally, "Without people's support, a law cannot get implemented. The CAB has become law on the basis of figure but not constitutionally. We are a secular country so the Act is unconstitutional."

"The BJP is thinking it has captured the nation by winning a single nation," she added.

The rally began at 8B Bus Stand in Jadavpur and will end at Jadubabur Bazar in Bhawanipore.

"The protest takes a new level when majority and minority support each other," the Chief Minister said.
