New Delhi, Apr 24 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, while sharing his monthly 'Mann Ki Baat' radio address, spoke about the need to conserve every drop of water in the country in the wake of the severe drought like condition in India.
He began his 19th edition of Mann Ki Baat by talking about the summer and the issue of water conservation.

"Drip irrigation, sprinkler irrigation are highly effective. They not only help conserve water, but also save a lot of labour," the PM advised.

Modi referred to a village in Ahmednagar where people decided to change the cropping pattern.

He said, "When the water table rises, the quality of water also improves. Clean drinking water means better health and stronger growth of economy."

The Prime Minister said the news of a good monsoon has made several people happy.

Modi also mentioned that the government is taking several efforts to clean the Ganga river.

"We will all have to be change agents for the cleaning of the Ganga. The Government is making numerous efforts," the PM shared.

He also spoke about tourism development with special reference to the Simhasth Kumbh.

"Many people are uploading photos of the Simhasth Kumbh. We should encourage them, so that people know about the Kumbh Mela," the PM said.

"MP CM ChouhanShivraj was also telling me about how they are focussing on cleanliness during this year's Simhasth Kumbh," he said.
