Mayawati suspends BSP MLA Rama Bai for supporting CAA

| @indiablooms | Dec 29, 2019, at 04:38 pm

Lucknow/IBNS:  Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati on Sunday announced that she has suspended party MLA Rama Bai for supporting the Citizenship Amendment Act.

Mayawati has been criticising the Act which was recently passed by the Indian government.

The new citizenship law, which triggered massive protests across the nation in recent times, seeks to grant citizenship to non-Muslim refugees who came to India before Dec 31, 2014, to escape religious persecution in three nations-Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

Rama Bai represents Patheriya Assembly seat in Madhya Pradesh state.

On Sunday, Mayawati tweeted: "The BSP is a disciplined party. It takes prompt action against MP and MLAs who break discipline.”
