Migrants from Bihar, UP leave northern Gujarat following protests over minor baby girl's rape

Ahmedabad, Oct 7 (IBNS): Several migrant workers, who are from  Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, have left north Gujarat after violence erupted in the state following the rape of a 14-month-old baby girl recently, reports said.

The girl was allegedly raped by a person from Bihar.

The police have arrested the person.

Over 150 people have also been arrested for allegedly targeting people, mostly migrant workers, from UP and Bihar, and the police are patrolling the streets of Sabarkantha, 116 km from Ahmedabad, a senior police officer was quoted as saying by NDTV.

The situation is currently under control.

Protests were reported from different parts of Gujarat including Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Patan, Sabarkantha and Mehsana.

The protest was reported a day after the accused person was arrested.
