Moscow: Modi appreciates strong India-Russia partnership in defence

Moscow, Dec 24 (IBNS): As Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Russia for the 16th annual India-Russia Summit, both countries on Thursday signed 16 agreements across diverse sectors-including the manufacturing of nuclear reactors, solar energy plants, railways and helicopter.
The agreements were signed during the second day of Modi's visit.
 
Speaking at a joint press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Modi appreciated the strong India-Russia partnership in defence, diplomacy and development.
 
"President Putin and I are moving towards expanding India-Russia economic ties," PM Modi said.
 
The Indian PM said he is confident that we will see increase in trade and investment.
 
"World must unite and combat terror without distinguishing between terror groups and target countries," Modi said.
 
PM Modi is now attending the 'Friends of India' event in Moscow were he will address the Indian diaspora.
 
Earlier in the day, Modi visited EMERCOM –the National Crisis Management Centre (NCMC) in Moscow. 
 
The Prime Minister was given an overview of the actual functioning and real-time monitoring operations of the Centre. 
 
He was informed in detail about the coordination among various disaster-relief agencies, which is done by this Centre. The space monitoring and 3D modelling capabilities were also explained. The capabilities of the Centre to monitor threats to human life and property, including natural disasters, both within and beyond Russia's borders, and its global sphere of cooperation were highlighted.
