Mumbai: Flood kills at least five, more rains expected today

Mumbai, Aug 30 (IBNS): Three people, including two children, have been killed after a roof collapsed in Mumbai and another two deaths were reported from neighbouring Thane, thereby bringing the casualties in the flood hit Financial Capital of India to five, media reports said.

However, after a day of inactivity, local trains have resumed services as the water levels have receded.

Flight operation too are normal this morning, according to airport authorities.

At least 10 flights were either diverted of delayed due to the poor visibility on Tuesday.

However, a red alert has been issued by the weather depart as the city is expected to receive more rainfall on Wednesday.

The announcement has forced the famous 'dabbawalas' of Mumbai to take a break from work today.

At least 10 teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed for rescue and relief operations.

The Indian Navy too was seen helping the victims with refreshments.

Other states like Gujarat and Goa have also been alerted of receiving heavy rainfall.
