New Delhi/IBNS: Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Jaya Bachchan, while reacting to the series of rape incidents that occurred in last few days shaking the country, in the Rajya Sabha on Monday said people committing heinous crimes like rape "should be brought out in public and lynched".

In a brief statement in the upper house, Bachchan said, "In other countries, common people used to give justice ( to criminals or accused). I think these people (criminals or criminals) should also be brought out in public and lynched in our countries as well."

The SP MP also questioned the Centre over its actions against these crimes. "I think time has come when people want the government to give a proper and definite answer on why such things are happening, how it is tackling and taking the steps to give justice to these people (accused or criminals)," said the actor-turned politician.

In an incident which has created an uproar in the country, a 26-year old veterinary doctor from Hyderabad was gang-raped, murdered and burnt in the last week.

All the four accused arrested in connection with the rape and murder of the veterinary doctor have been sent to 14-day judicial custody on Saturday.
