New Delhi/UNI: District & Sessions Judge Brijesh Garg on Tuesday granted interim bail to two persons arrested after a protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act turned violent in the Seelampur area of this month.

Protesters had allegedly clashed with policemen on December 17 and vandalised three buses. Many people were also injured.

Police had arrested 14 people allegedly involved in the protest and obtained 14 days judicial custody.

Counsel for Ali submitted that his client, suffering from thyroid, gets regular fits in jail. Moinuddin had contended that he sustained injuries during a police lathi charge.

Opposing the bail application, Delhi Police submitted that the injuries were sustained due to a blast from a petrol bomb.

The Judge granted interim bail for three weeks to both Ali and Moinuddin with the condition to furnish a surety bond of Rs 20,000 with a surety of like amount.

January 21 was set for the next hearing.
