Rahul Gandhi condoles Ummer Fayaz's death

New Delhi, May 10 (IBNS): Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday mourned the death of Ummer Fayaz, a Lieutenant rank Indian Army officer.

"The entire nation shares the grief of Lt Ummer Fayaz' family, friends & colleagues. My heartfelt condolences," the official Twitter page of the leader said.

The Indian Army mourned his death and tweeted:"#COAS & All Ranks salute supreme sacrifice of Lt Ummer Fayaz at Shopian, J&K & offers condolences to the family members."

Suspected militants killed an army officer in Shopian district of south Kashmir, police said on Wednesday.

"A Lieutenant rank army officer, Umar Fayaz, resident of Kulgam, was found dead near Kulgam town early morning today," a police official said.

The officer further stated that Umar joined Indian army recently and was posted as a lieutenant and was presently working with an army unit in Srinagar.
