Sedition case filed against SP leader Azam Khan following comment on the Army

Lucknow, Jul 1 (IBNS) : Police filed a sedition case against senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan on Saturday for his controversial remarks against the Indian Army, reports said.

The case was filed on the basis of two separate  complaints against him at Hazratganj and Gautampalli police stations.

Khan had whipped up a controversy by saying that the excesses of the Army in Jammu and Kashmir and other areas prompted women to chop off the private parts of soldiers in revenge.

"Soldiers have been beaten by women in Kashmir, Jharkhand and Assam and their private parts were also chopped off... India's truth is that women are forced to act against Army rapists. It is a message that Hindustan should be ashamed of," Khan said at an event in Rampur in western Uttar Pradesh.

Khan, however, tried to save the situation as he claimed that his statement was "misconstrued" by media.

" How can army's morale fall because of me? I am nobody. Army's morale fell when Prime Minister Modi went to Pakistan," he said.
