Six killed, 10 injured in explosion near Wardha ordinance depot

Wardha, Maharashgtra, Nov 20 (IBNS) : Six people were killed and 10 were injured after a box of ammunition exploded during handling near an ordnance depot in Maharashtra's Wardha on Tuesday morning, reports said .

Four of the victims were killed on the spot while two others succumbed to their injuries in hospital.

According to reports, the  ammunition exploded while it was being unloaded for disposal near the Central Ammunition Deopt  with more than a dozen labourers being on the spot.

Media repots quoted a defence official as say,ing that the  demolition was being carried out by the staff of the Ordnance Factory, Khamaria, with the help of an authorised contractor.

Those killed include an employee of the Khamaria-based ordnance factory. One of the 10 injured people is critical.
