Sub Lieutenant Shivangi becomes first woman pilot in Navy

New Delhi/IBNS: Sub Lieutenant Shivangi became the first woman pilot in the Indian Navy after successfully completing her graduation course.

SLt Shivangi, who is from Bihar's Muzaffarpur, was inducted into the Navy under the entry scheme of Short Service Commission-Pilot.

She will continue with her training to become the fully operational pilot on Maritime Reconnaissance (MR) aircraft.

As per media reports, SLt Shivangi will continue to train at the Indian Naval Air Squadron (INAS).

The Indian Navy congratulated SLt Shivangi in a tweet saying, "Sub Lieutenant #Shivangi of the @IndianNV scripts history as she becomes the FIRST naval woman pilot. She joined operational duties in Kochi naval base today.She will be flying the Dornier surveillance aircraft of the Indian Navy Congratulations."
