Three militants, one army officer killed in Nagaland encounter

Kohima, June 7 (IBNS) : An army officer and three militants were killed in a fierce encounter in Nagaland's Mon district on Tuesday night, reports said.

Three soldiers were also injured in the encounter that took place between Assam Rifles personnel and a combined force of NSCN (Khaplang) and United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent)  at  Tijit, about  340 km north of the state capital Kohima.

Unconfirmed reports said a civilian had been killed in cross-fire.

The incident took place when the officer, a Major  and his team went to the area following information about the movement of militants and came under attack.

Combing operation is still going on in the area.
