Ahmedabad, Jul 14 (IBNS) : Two persons have been killed and several injured in caste clashes in Halvad town of Gujarat's Saurashtra region, The Hindu reported.

More than 20 vehicles and a few houses were torched by rioters belonging to Bharwad and Kshatriya communities.

Authorities have suspended  mobile-based Internet services in Morbi and Surendranagar districts as a measure to tackle the situation.

The authorities also stopped traffic on Ahmedabad-Kutch highway that passes through Halvad and Dhragadra towns after violence erupted on Thursday evening.

Clashes between Bharwad and Kshatriya castes broke out following the murder of a Kshatriya community leader, Indrasinh Zala, in Dhrangadhra town.
