Two Odisha BJP leaders quit party, refuse to be 'treated like furniture'
Bhuvneshwar, Nov 30 (IBNS): In a major jolt to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Odisha where the saffron party is aiming to gain big, two of its leaders- Dilip Ray and Bijoy Mahapatra- submitted their joint resignations on Friday, media reports said.
In a joint resignation letter to BJP national president Amit Shah, Ray and Mahapatra said they won't allow themselves to be "treated like furniture".
Both are the members of the national executive members of the BJP.
Ray and Mahapatra alleged there is an infighting in the party in Odisha.
However, leaders are silent fearing they would lose their opportunities to contest the assembly elections next year, the two leaders said.
Ray, who is an MLA from Rourkela assembly constituency, has also quit the Odisha Vidhan Sabha.
Odisha is one of the eastern states where the BJP is trying to gain big in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections as well as the next state polls.
