Two terrorists, including top Hizbul commander, killed in Kashmir encounter

Srinagar, Aug 29 (IBNS) :A top Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist was among the two terrorists killed in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district on Wednesday.

Jammu and Kashmir police said in a tweet that Altaf Kachroo, the slain Hizbul commander, was  wanted in connection with a series of terror crimes.

"Altaf Kachroo the top #HM terrorist among the two killed in the encounter. Wanted by law since 2012 for series of terror crimes .@JmuKmrPolice, the tweet said.

The terrorists were holed up inside a house and were killed in an exchange of fire with security forces at Muniward village, about 60 km off Srinagar after security forces launched a cordon and search operation on the basis of some specific information.

  Kachroo was involved in several attacks on the security forces and killings of civilians and policemen in the area. He had a long history of criminal records since 2007.

Another terrorist was identified as Omar Rashid Wani, who was isaid to be nvolved in many civilian atrocities and attacks on security  establishments.

Wani was also involved in killing of policemen at Anantnag and recently he carried an attack on CRPF in Srinagar.,

The bodies of both the militants along with two weapons have been recovered.

"Anantnag encounter completed, 2 bodies of terrorists along with 2 weapons recovered from the site. A clean operation with precision," J & K Police DGP Shesh Pal Vaid tweeted.
