Union minister visits Meja Thermal Power Plant

Allahabad, Mar 21 (IBNS) Union Minister of State (IC) for Power, Coal, New and Renewable Energy, Piyush Goyal, visited Meja Thermal Power Project (MUNPL-2x660 MW), Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh on Monday.
During his visit, the minister inspected the power plant and reviewed its activities and performance. 
 
During his visit he also inaugurated a community centre and said that more than 4,000 people will be directly benefited by the community centre . 
 
Addressing the media, Goyal stated that the Meja Project will also work to utilise sewage water for plant activities.
 
He also that coal linkage from nearest coal mines will be made available so the rate of electricity gradually decreases and the plant benefits the people of Uttar Pradesh by reducing the per unit electricity charge.
 
Also present at the plant during the minister's visit were Keshaw Prasad Maurya MP (Phoolpur), S C Pandey, Director(Projects), NTPC, Prabhat Kumar, CEO, Meja Urja Nigams and senior MUNPL officials. 
 
The dignitaries also planted saplings near the power plant.
