UP Congress leader sacked after he calls Rahul Gandhi Pappu

| | Jun 14, 2017, at 07:38 pm
New Delhi, June 14 (IBNS) Congress party's Meerut district President Vinay Pradhan was sacked on Tuesday for referring to Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi as 'pappu'-an infamous sobriquet often used mockingly by the BJP.

According to reports, Pradhan made the comment in a Whatsapp group after Gandhi's  recent attempt to visit Madhya Pradesh 's Mandsaur district when he  got arrested.

However, unlike Gandhi's critics, Pradhan rather praised Rahul Gandhi for his overtures in Mandsaur.

"Pappu could have joined hands with Adani, Ambani and Mallya but he did not do that. Pappu could have been a minister or even the prime minister but he did not go down that road. Instead, he put his life on the line by going to Mandsaur", was what Pradhan wrote.

Pradhan was removed from all party posts after Congress spokesperson Abhimanyu Tyagi wrote to state party chief Raj Babbar, The Hindu reported.

Ramkrishna Dwivedi, chairman of the disciplinary committee in Congress said that "Vinay Pradhan is guilty of violating the constitution of Congress party."

“This is an attempt to malign the party leadership. Other parties appear to be involved in this. It is also an effort to divert attention from the main issues, like the plight of farmers in Madhya Pradesh,” Dwivedi wrote in a letter, The Times of India reported.
