Uttarakhand crisis: PM Modi calls Cabinet meeting

| | Mar 27, 2016, at 04:15 am
New Delhi, Mar 26 (IBNS): In a bid to discuss the political situation in Uttarakhand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday called an emergency meeting of the cabinet.

Uttarakhand is facing a political crisis where Chief Minister Harish Rawat is facing rebellion from some Congress lawmakers.

Nine Congress lawmakers had rebelled against Rawat in March as they sought a vote division on the floor of the house.

The Speaker, , however, rejected the demand made by them.

Meanwhile, deepening the crisis, the rebel leaders have released a video of he Chief Minister and alleged that in order to save his government in the state he is  indulging in horse-trading.

Former CM Vijay Bahuguna, who heads to nine-member group, told The Times of India, "If Harish Rawat thinks the video is doctored he should ask for CBI probe into the matter. There can be nothing more concrete than this to prove that Rawat is involved in horse trading to save his government."
