West Bengal: TMC Panchayat Samiti president fires shots in Malda, youth killed

Kolkata, Dec 27 (IBNS): A Trinamool Congress (TMC) Panchayat Samiti president allegedly fired on a mob at English Bazar area in West Bengal's Malda district on Sunday afternoon which killed one youth and left another injured, reports said.

According to reports, a car of TMC leader Pabitra Roy, who is the president of TMC ruled English Bazar Panchayat Samiti, hit a cycle and tried to flee from the spot. Local people caught his car, after chasing few distance.

While angry mob tried to vandalize the vehicle, Pabitra Roy fired few round bullets indiscriminately from his car.

A local youth- Asim Mondal (19)- was gunned down and another ninth-standard student, Rahul Paswan (17), was injured by bullet shots.

After firing, the mob was dispersed and the accused fled from the spot with his vehicle.

However, police have seized the car and arrested the accused Pabitra Roy. He will be produced in a local court on Monday.

No reaction from the local TMC leaders has been received so far.
