Will PM Modi share details of Rafale deal with nation? Asks Congress leader Mukul Wasnik

Guwahati, Sept 3 (IBNS): Former Union Minister and All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Mukul Wasnik on Monday slammed the Centre for starting crony capitalism in the country by giving offset contract to PM Narendra Modi’s "favourite industrialist" to procure Rafale fighter aircraft.

Addressing a press conference held in Guwahati, the senior Congress leader said that, the entire contract was given to "PM Modi’s favourite industrialist" instead of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited.

Mukul Wasnik said that, people of the country now know everything and the All India Congress Committee demands setting up of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC).

“PM Modi, Defence Minister and all the ministers who are involved in the procurement process should come forward and face the JPC,” Mukul Wasnik said.

“In 2015, PM Modi said that 36 Rafale fighter aircraft will be procured on emergency. But not a single aircraft has arrived in India till now,” Wasnik alleged.

The senior Congress leader further said that, the present government has to pay Rs 41,000 crore more compared to the previous price negotiated by the UPA government.

“Who is responsible for this? Why all laid down procedures which have been followed for defence procurement have not been followed? Why Hindustan Aeronautics Limited doesn’t get offset contract and someone just registered 10 days before as a company gets the offset contract. How this is possible,” Mukul Wasnik said.

The senior Congress leader asked PM Modi whether he will share detail over the Rafale deal with the nation.
