Chester-le-Street, May 30 (IBNS): England skipper Alaister Cook smashed unbeaten 47 runs and helped his side win the Test and clinch the series against Sri Lanka besides touching the record of becoming the youngest person to touch 10,000 Test runs.

Reaching five on the fourth day of the second Test, the England skipper touched the record.

Aged 31 years, 5 months, 5 days, Cook beat Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar's record of touching the 10,000 runs feat at the age of 31 years, 10 months and 20 days.

Former England captain Paul Collingwood ‏tweeted: "Serious achievement be Cooky, @englandcricket legend already. Was a pleasure to bat behind, usually with pad rash #EngvSL #History #record."
